Eglin Part 93 Quick Reference (Valparaiso Terminal Area)

North–South Corridor

Think: “Like Class B—you need a clearance.”

Requirements:

Obtain an ATC clearance before entering the corridor.
Maintain two-way radio communications while inside.
If you’re already on flight following, the clearance requirement is normally satisfied by ATC.

Think: “Call first—clearance not normally required.”

Typical VFR Phraseology

North–South

“Eglin Approach, Cessna 123AB, five miles south of Destin, 2,500 feet, request northbound transition through the Part 93 North–South Corridor.”

Wait for the controller to issue your clearance before entering.

East–West

“Eglin Approach, Cessna 123AB, three miles east of Destin, 2,500 feet, request eastbound transition through the East–West Corridor.”

ATC will provide the required advisory and instructions.

Best Practice

Whenever possible:

Request VFR Flight Following before reaching the Part 93 area.
Let ATC coordinate your transition.
It greatly simplifies operations and reduces the chance of inadvertently violating the special rules.
